Healthy Lifestyles at The Elland Academy

The day was split in to 2 sessions.
 
Healthy Foods/Cooking
Healthy Bodies and Minds
 
Students were able to access both sessions, one in the morning and one in afternoon.
 
During the healthy foods session students explored a balanced diet, the amount of sugars and fats in snack foods and drinks. These included chocolate bars, crisps and fizzy drinks. 
 
Finally the students made frozen fruit kebabs and healthy wraps, they were then able to picnic outside with their chosen foods.
 
During the Healthy Bodies and Minds sesion students were able to go ofsite to middleton sports centre and explore exercise and how this effects their bodies.
 
Students then took part in a variety of mini sports challenges which included football, badminton, tennnis and basketball.
 
The students had a great time in both sessions and their feedback was very positive.
 
When asked 100% of students enjoyed the practical activities on offer and 100% of students felt safe and secure during the session.
