    The Elland Academy - Sports Day!

    12th July 2015

    On Friday 10th July 2015 students and staff at The Elland Academy participated in their first Sports Day. The weather was wonderful at Middleton Sports Centre and staff and students participated in a variety of activities such as cricket, relay races, 3 legged races and even a welly toss!

    Thank you to all of you who came to support this lovely afternoon of sporting excellence!

    Leading The Elland Academy to success

    A headteacher’s success at a new alternative provision free school in Leeds has received national recognition. The Elland Academy was established a year ago to re-engage challenging and vulnerable students in the city and surrounding area. Its leader, Alice Ngondi, in her first headship, has been singled out for praise by Teaching Leaders for the positive impact she has made on the students and the community. - See the full story at:

    Farewell to our first ever Year 11 cohort!

    Staff at the Elland academy treated their students to an evening to remember. They students were given the opportunity to celebrate their end of KS4 with their peers to mark the end of their post 16 education.

    We blasted the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge!

    Staff at TEA have completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge! A massive thank you goes out to everyone who was involved both during and on the run up to this challenge! The weather was on our side and staff members really motivated each other to complete the 28 mile adventure! We may all be suffering with blisters and sore muscles but to date we have raised over £700 for charity! A massive well done and a massive thank you!

    Our KS3 stuents will be entering this years annual Arts and Minds competition which aims to promote and celebrate cultural diversity.

    A massive thank you goes out to all staff and visitors for a great open day! A massive thank you needs to go out to our students for all their hard work. The Elland Academy students really did us proud, they became tour guides, servers and presenters. As our school motto states and we have proved: 100% Always, No Excuses!

    Animation Trip - National Media Museum

    7th May 2015

    Our year 10 students have had a fantastic day at The National Media Museum. The students took part in an animation workshop and created their own short stop frame animations. Themes varied from love to football, battles to snail adventures... A massive thank you goes out to students, staff and everyone involved on the day!

  • Hunslet Hawks Rugby

    1st May 2015
    PC Hides has arranged a sports/team building sessions which is run in conjunction with Hunslet Hawks Rugby Foundation.
    The aim of these sessions are to encourage pupils to engage in sporting activities, healthy living, social interaction with peers and outside agencies.

    PC Hides will be attending these sessions with 10 pupils on 5th, 12th, 19th May 2015.

    The official opening of The Elland Academy will be on Friday 8th May 2015. In preparation for our visitors our students have been filming a guided tour of the Academy and discussing with us what they feel about being a student here.

    Red Nose Day 2015!

    25th March 2015
    On Friday the 13th March students at the Elland academy supported red nose day by having a non uniform day and taking part in fun activities. Students were encouraged to wear red to support the theme of red nose day. Some also sprayed their own and staffs hair red! Students created their own funny faces in an arts and crafts workshop. At break they bought themed buns to help raise money and in the afternoon students joined staff to compete in a fun quiz which encouraged team building skills and good staff s

    Alice brings to the Elland Academy 20 years’ experience in Education having served in different capacities and in different countries. She possesses a deep understanding of different cultures and is an advocate of social and  cultural integration in schools and society to forge better relationships.

    The Elland Academy staff are having trouble trying to decide what their favourite book is. Who would have thought it was so hard to choose a quote from your favourite book.     Students at The Elland Academy have been participating in this years #HourOfCode. The Hour of Code is a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries. Every student should have the opportunity to learn computer science. It helps nurture problem-solving skills, logic and creativity.     First Lessons begin at new Leeds based Academy


    A brand new academy in Leeds  officially opened its doors to its students on Monday.

    The Elland Academy; a new Alternative Provision Free School catering for schools and academies across Leeds and Wakefield held its very first lessons for a few of its students in the new academy last week. The specialist staff team, cater for learners aged between 4-18 years old and ensure that their provision is tailored to individual needs.

  • Safer Internet Day 2015!

    On Tuesday 10th February 2015 students took part in activities based around making the internet safe and enjoyable.

    Students created worked on a let's create a better internet together campaign. They wrote their own recipes for making the internet safer and wrote an individual pledge to state what they could do help increase awareness.

    The Elland Academy Walking Challenge for Huntington's!

    The Elland Academy will be walking the 3 peaks for Huntington's Disease Association in summer 2015.

    This year the team will be walking the 3 Yorkshire peaks in 1 day. The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes in the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, usually in this order, and in under 12 hours. These peaks form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
